Green Works Consultancy

History

After gaining experience in scientific research on soil fertility and plant nutrition and learning the ropes of horticulture greenhouse production, it was time to start consulting. In 2005 the first consultancy assignments were started and in 2015 the independant consultancy company Green Works Consultancy was established in Utrecht, The Netherlands. In 2020 Green Works moved to Loosdrecht and also has an office space in Aalsmeer.

After an initial starting phase with activities in several eastern European countries, the focus for projects and activies has shifted to the African continent per 2009.

Green Works’ main expertise lies in agri- and horti-business support, sector studies, feasibility studies and project management.

Green Works projects focus on private sector investment, development cooperation, sustainable sector transition through development of ‘best practices’, capacity building and technical innovations.

From ornamentals to food production

The first projects in Africa mostly involved introducing sustainable technologies for water and energy management, IPM and post-harvest management in large scale flower production for export. Gradually the scope of Green Works’ assignments moved to supporting SME farmers active fruit and vegetable production, ensuring food security and food safety for the domestic markets.
